Anger Management sessions at Archway with STOP

Archway will be co-facilitating/supporting the workshops in partnerships with S.T.O.P at Archway. The workshops will run over a 10 week period begining 13th September 2007, every Thursdays 5:30pm - 7:30pm. The outline for the workshops are as follows:

Week 1 - Introduction - group expectations, limiting pressure, relieving pressure (role play/discussions)

Week 2 - Recap - where we can go for help? support network, coping strategies, (small group work)

Week 3 - Recognising anger/stress -  is anger useful? fight/flight, stress in the modern world (activity - to design their own personal iceberg)

Week 4 - Types of anger -  my anger, anger signals, choosing how to react, sneaky anger, anger ladder (small group discussions - design anger ladders)

Week 5 - Understanding our emotions - dumping, stinking thinking, shadow selves, stuffing (video work)

Week 6 - Relationships 1 - fair arguing, (role play)

Week 7 - Relationships 2 - winding up/down, rebuilding relationships (video work)

Week 8 - Social pressures - the man code (small group work, cracking the code)

Week 9 - Solution focused problem solving - what problem? my problem and me? what progress have I made? what steps shall I take? (working in pairs, identify a problem and outline steps)

Week 10 - Using what we have learnt, review/presentation - handling criticism, assume, salvage, anger profile (role play, working with criticism/negativity)

Archway are hoping to video some of the work and produce this as a useful peer educational tool. The target group will be young men with existing issues with anger, at risk and who will benefit most from the workshops.
